Proeflokaal de Boom has been a household name in Alkmaar for over 34 years!
As a tasting room, we offer twelve specialty beers on tap and over 100 bottled. Of course, our range also includes coffee, tea, various types of wine and soft drinks.
Our guests range in age from 18 to 98, from construction worker to judge, from regular local guests to tourists from all over the world; everyone feels at home here. The warmth and cosiness that the café brings with it is of all times and for everyone. A good conversation with a customer or colleague or a nice drink with friends, family or acquaintances. Nowadays we also seem to be a perfect location for tinder dates ;-).
In June 2020, we installed a beautiful floating terrace (see our "news" item for details). You can sit on this terrace all year round. In summer you see all the boats passing by and you really imagine yourself on vacation. In winter you can sit comfortably warm and cozy under the umbrellas with heaters.
Inside our Tasting Room you can sit and enjoy beer tastings, cozy music in the background and interactions with the bartenders. Drinking at its best.
We have a menu varying between apple tarts and well-stocked snack boards.
An extra added value for real beer lovers is the National Beer Museum, which is located in the former brewery above our tasting room. Here you will learn all about the history of beer and the old brewing process. It is definitely worth taking a look before you visit the warmth and cosiness of our tasting room.
